How to click faster

  • Rest your wrist. Holding your arm in the air wastes energy that should be going into the click. Anchor the wrist and let the fingers do the work.
  • Click shallow. Press only deep enough to actuate the switch. Full-depth presses cost time on every single click.
  • Stay loose. Tension is the most common reason a score drops in the second half of a long test.
  • Use a light switch. A mouse with a low actuation force is worth roughly a full CPS compared with a stiff office mouse.
  • Know the trade-off. Jitter and butterfly clicking do produce higher numbers, but both put sustained strain on the wrist and forearm. They are worth treating as party tricks, not training goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a click speed test?

A click speed test measures how many times you can click a mouse in a fixed period, then converts that into clicks per second, usually shortened to CPS. It is the standard way people compare mouse clicking speed.

What does CPS mean?

CPS stands for clicks per second. If you click 62 times in a 10-second test, your score is 6.2 CPS. Because it is a rate, it lets you compare runs of different lengths.

What is a good CPS score?

The average person scores between 5 and 7 CPS with normal clicking. Around 8 CPS is fast, and scores above 10 CPS generally come from techniques like jitter clicking or butterfly clicking rather than ordinary single-finger clicks.

Which test length should I use?

Ten seconds is the most widely used and the fairest all-round measure. One and five second tests reward a short burst, while 30 and 60 second tests measure stamina and usually give a noticeably lower CPS.

What is jitter clicking?

Jitter clicking means tensing your forearm so the muscle vibrates and the tremor drives the mouse button, which can push a player past 10 CPS. It puts real strain on the wrist and forearm, so it is worth knowing that people do get injuries from practising it heavily.

What is butterfly clicking?

Butterfly clicking alternates two fingers on the same mouse button so the presses interleave, roughly doubling the rate a single finger can manage. It needs a mouse switch that registers both presses cleanly, and many games ban it.

Does the click speed test work on mobile?

Yes. Tapping the panel counts exactly like a mouse click, so you can measure tap speed on a phone or tablet the same way.

Is my best CPS score saved?

Yes. Your best result is stored in your browser separately for each duration, so your 10-second record and your 60-second record are kept apart. Nothing is uploaded.
